Safeguarding Children

It is a compulsory requirement that every County FA has an appointed Welfare Officer. Their role is to ensure the safeguarding of children who are invloved with affiliated clubs and to ensure standards and procedures are put in place for their protection.

The key priorities for the Welfare Officer role are:

• Receive safeguarding concerns from Clubs and Leagues and act upon them
• Receive poor practice concerns and work directly with Clubs and Leagues around these issues
• Liaison with Statutory agencies
• Liaison with The FA Child Protection team
• Create links with League and Club Welfare Officers and support them with their role
• Promote Best Practice across Grassroots Football with respect to Safeguarding Children & Vulnerable Adults, including compliance with relevant Government Legislation and FA Policy, and targets within the FA National Game Strategy
• Promote the FA Safeguarding and Welfare Officer Workshop training programmes
