Workforce Development

Workforce Development Programme
Sheffield & Hallamshire FA can provide a range of courses aimed at supporting people who work or wish to work in football (either voluntarily or professionally). All of these courses result in nationally recognised qualifications and many offer benefits in other sports other than football. Whether it is coaching, officiating, event management or first aid, Sheffield & Hallamshire FA can deliver. All courses are delivered by FA qualified tutors.

Junior Football Organiser (JFO) Course

Aimed at participants aged between 14 and 19. The course trains young leaders in coaching, organisation skills and event management. This course supports young leaders who may wish to participate in the Step Into Sport Programme.

Step Into Sport Programme

Facilitates placements for young people aged 16+ in Charter Standard Clubs or other appropriate agencies. Students gain valuable workforce experience through volunteering in one of the following areas: Coaching; Refereeing; IT/Administration. The programme helps develop communication, problem-solving, team-working and leadership skills; and can result in opportunities to attend annual Regional Young Leaders Camp and FA National Young Leaders Camp.

Referee Academy

Aimed at participants aged between 14 and 19, incorporating the Basic Referees Course which covers all necessary aspects to become a referee in 11-a-side football. The programme is a blended approach including instruction on the Laws of the Game, and practical demonstrations. Assessment is both theoretical and practical. Participants will be mentored through a series of assessed games and will be signposted to the Referees Association for ongoing support after participants have become a qualified referee.

FA Emergency First Aid

A 3-hour course which contains both theory and practical elements. This course is suitable for anybody interested in football who wishes to gain knowledge of first aid or refresh their existing skills. On completion of the course candidates should be able to preserve life, limit the effect of injury and promote recovery.

FA Coaching Course Taster Sessions - 1st4sport Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football

A 2-hour session suitable for candidates who may be considering undertaking the full Level 1 course. This course provides an insight into the content and commitment required when undertaking the full course. This session can also provide some useful pointers and taster sessions for the occasional coach who may opt not to take the full course.

FA Coaching Course Taster Sessions - Age Appropriate Coaching: Introductory Module

A 2-hour session suitable for candidates who may be considering undertaking the full Age Appropriate Coaching: Introductory Module and subsequent FA Youth Award modules. This course provides an insight into the content and commitment required when undertaking the full course. This session can also provide some useful ideas on how to adopt practices for coaches who may opt not to take the full course.

FA Coaching Course Taster Sessions - Coaching Futsal: A Beginners Guide

A 2-hour session suitable for candidates who may be considering undertaking the full course. This session provides an insight into the content and commitment required when undertaking the Coaching Futsal: A Beginners Guide course. This session can also provide some basic information on Futsal which may encourage coaches to incorporate elements of this within their coaching sessions.
